The ANA IORGA FW22 Florii collection is inspired by the techniques used in traditional Romanian clothing as well as the freedom brought by the Romanian revolution, this collection explores my heritage and values through 5 couture pieces.
PIECE #1
The first piece of the collection features a long sleeve midi length gown constructed with embroidered tulle, a lace in corset with boning and underwire, and over 40 yards of tulle as well as a crinoline to create the full skirt. The design was inspired by traditional Romanian costumes in the silhouette as well as floral embroidery style. The corset was constructed using custom couture techniques and the whole dress was finished with silk satin binding on the hems and seams.
TRADITION
This collection brings to light the beautiful and intricate elements of the ages old Romanian culture. A part of my heritage, the collection draws elements from traditional Romanian costumes, namely the intricate embroidery, colours and silhouettes.
FREEDOM
The collection also draws on the concept of freedom and the 1989 Romanian communist revolution, a huge impact on modern society in the country. It brings to light that freedom is our fundamental right and that we constantly need to fight for it.
FLORII
This Fall / Winter 2022
couture collection is named FLORII, the Romanian word for flowers. Flowers have long been a symbol of peace and freedom, as well as an integral part of the Romanian folklore symbols and clothing,
PIECE #2
The second piece of the collection features a sleeveless long gown constructed with embroidered lace, a lace in corset with boning and underwire, and over 20 yards of tulle as well as a crinoline to create the draping skirt with train. The corset and bodysuit was constructed using custom couture techniques and the whole dress was finished with silk satin binding on the hems and seams. The dress also features a convertible hood that can be worn up as a veil or down as a bolero. The design was inspired by modern interpretations of wedding dresses, as well as keeping in line with the liberating theme of the collection.

PIECE #4
The fourth piece of the collection features a long sleeve fitted gown with a mesh corset bodysuit with boning and underwire, and an invisible zip closure. The design was inspired by traditional Romanian costumes in the silhouette as well as floral embroidery style. The corset was constructed using custom couture techniques and the whole dress was finished with silk satin binding on the hems and seams. The dress is also adorned with 3D printed handmade flowers.
PIECE #5
The fifth piece of the collection features a strapless wedding dress, as in the couture tradition of the finale. The piece is convertible from a traditional white wedding gown to a black one, symbolizing the uprise of revolution and freedom.
It is constructed using embroidered lace and an underwire boned corset, lace up closure and the black convertible mesh is hidden in an off shoulder panel that is pulled out to reveal the second side of the dress.
